Serra Verde Copper-Gold Project
The Serra Verde Project is located a few kilometres north of the Rio Verde Project. An extensive copper-gold soil anomaly trends northwest to southeast, over a strike of 2.5 kilometres, through the Serra Verde Project. A historic, large open pit, the Garimpo Serra Verde Prospect, exists along the anomalous trend, in addition to the mineralised occurrences at the Alagoano Prospect and the Pedro Prospect. Significant copper mineralisation has been intersected within the Serra Verde Project.
Alagoano Copper Prospect
Two abandoned artisan shafts are located at the Alagoano Prospect, which lies at the northwestern end of the anomalous copper-gold trend. Copper ores, chalcocite and chalcopyrite, were mined from a west northwest trending vein.
Previous drilling, in 2005, intersected extensive low grade copper mineralisation in all holes.
Garimpo Serra Verde Copper-Gold Prospect
The Garimpo Serra Verde Prospect comprises an historic shallow open pit, at the northwestern end of the copper-gold anomalous trend, that measures approximately 250 metres by 50 metres by 30 metres. The abandoned pit has been previously evaluated, returning high grade copper-gold channel sampling results, including:-
The high grade mineralisation at the Garimpo Serra Verde Prospect is interpreted to be structurally controlled and likely associated with deeper massive sulphides. Avanco is confident that drill testing over the numerous high priority targets will yield results.
Pedro Copper Prospect
The Pedro Prospect is located at the southeastern end of the anomalous copper-gold trend. Drilling has identified chalcopyrite copper sulphide mineralisation at the Pedro Prospect, supporting Avanco's view that the Serra Verde Project is very prospective for copper discoveries.
The excellent results returned from the drilling at the Pedro Prospect include:-
|
4.00 metres at 1.31% copper from 72.95 metres
|
2.50 metres at 2.86% copper from 46.25 metres
|
incl. incl. |
10.80 metres at 1.84% copper from 100.20 metres 3.15 metres at 5.65% copper from 107.85 metres 0.75 metres at 18.94% copper from 108.85 metres |

1.00 metres at 7.28% copper from 60.00 metres 2.53 metres at 1.38% copper from 72.07 metres 0.93 metres at 3.26% copper from 72.07 metres |
The intersects are extremely encouraging, indicating that mineralisation at Pedro is thickening and continues to be open at depth.
